Kushnz 'n' Kwiltz is run by Angela Pickering, based in Norfolk Angela is an Embroider by profession. Angela's quilts have gone all over the UK and many have gone abroad. The quilts are designed to be used on the bed, but one is currently being used on a missionary altar in Africa and a silk quilt is being used as a wall-hanging in a penthouse apartment in Switzerland.
"The very nature of the patchwork means that is impossible to make two quilts the same," says Angela, "but for me a lot of the enjoyment is to make quilts from the same fabric that looks totally different by changing the pattern and shading. A visiting quilter from Seattle told me that she had seen nothing like my quilts in her 40 year involvement on the trade. Despite them being totally unique I do keep my designs very traditional and I rely on the fabrics and the embroidery to enhance the quilt." Angela also specialises in the use and supply of Indian fabrics, including Indian silk and Indian cotton, which are suitable for a Sari or pashminas.
